New Designs : Red & Black

This will now be my...third top that I have made with the ruffle hem. I started with the ivory silk version, which I loved and have worn a ton of times. But I wanted to narrow the shoulders a bit and drop the neckline. So I then tweaked my pattern and made a navy poly version. This then became my favorite version as the fabric I used for this blue version does not wrinkle at all, making it perfect for throwing in a suitcase for traveling.

I had some extra red silk crepe de chine after making my ruffled heels back in the summer, so I recently decided to make a another version of my favorite shirt in red silk. This time however I added an additional hem ruffle, so two ruffles one on top of the other. I love how it came out - the bright color is very fun and the second hem ruffle creates a more exaggerated look that is fresh and unique.

But I didn't stop there - I took this base pattern and tweaked it again, this time narrowing the armholes inward, raising the neckline and adding an exposed zipper to the center back. I did this version in black poly so it could be super versatile, matching with everything and once again in the non-wrinkling poly. These pictures aren't the greatest but wanted to take a few quick shots to show you guys!

What do you guys think? Do I need to quit it with this design? Maybe, but I just like it too much!
