Coat : old (similar) // Dress : Loft // Bag : Phillip Lim // Shoes : old (similar) // Stole : from J.Crew Parka

I've been on a mission lately to add more printed long sleeve dresses to my wardrobe after getting and already wearing this one from Loft a ton (which is currently on sale!). A printed long sleeve dress can easily go from summer to fall just by tossing on some booties and coat. Come the colder weather, black tights are an easy way to winterize the look. A few printed dresses on my shopping list include this one from Madewell, this maxi version from Loft (currently 25% off) and this one from Asos.

Always one to seek out a bargain, I wanted to share two special styling tips from this look to update your wardrobe on a budget this season:

Faux Fur Stole

I have seen fur stoles popping up everywhere lately and I'm sure many fashionable ladies have already added one from J.Crew to their holiday wish-list. Why not give the look a try before you buy? I took the fur hood piece off of this J.Crew parka and simply draped it over my black jacket. Voila! I recommend you take a look through your coat closet and see which hood furs you can repurpose as a stole this season!

Budget Jacket

I am a big proponent of tailoring your clothes to make them look more expensive and this jacket is a great example of that. I purchased this black coat from Forever 21 four years ago. When I got it, the top portion fit well but the bottom was way too long on my petite frame. Since I had gotten the piece itself for such a great price I felt ok with paying for some alterations. A tailor was able to shorten the sleeves and the overall length to get the jacket fitting just as it should be. If you're in the market for a new coat I suggest you have a look at some budget-friendly options that can be tailored to fit just right, such as this one from Forever 21 or this one from H&M.
