Vintage Hawaiian Shirt

I love scouring the vintage shop around the corner from my apartment (what up L Train) for something fun and cheap that I can re-work to look more modern. One of the main things I look for when shopping vintage is a print that I love. On one of my recent trips I was flipping through the short sleeve men's button downs (as a petite female does) and was super digging the print on this Hawaiian shirt. Of course since it was a men's size I was swimming in it. However, times like these my sewing skills come in handy and at $6 for the shirt I was willing to put a little work into it. After taking in the sides, tacking the sleeves and shortening the length the top was ready to go. Being in California seemed like the perfect opportunity to wear it!

After grabbing some brunch at Bayside Landing we headed to No Surf Beach (yes, that is the name) in Ocean Beach. Getting down to the beach from the road is a little treacherous (see photo below with the 'danger' sign), but once down there it is a great place to spend the day. Cliffs rising above make it super scenic. Also since it is so hard to get to it is usually pretty empty and with no tourists.

San Diego is one of my favorite places to visit and this trip was no exception. With great weather, a laid back attitude and plenty of beaches it's pretty much my paradise. Hoping to make it back as soon as possible!
