White Peplum Top

Top : Magill aka. designed/sewed by me (similar, similar) // Jeans : Rag & Bone // Bag : Mark and Graham // Sunglasses : Purchased in Thailand (similar) // Shoes : Shein // Coat : Old Navy (similar)

We had the first taste of spring this weekend, with a sunny and warm Saturday. It was so nice to be able to walk outside without feeling like your face was freezing off. I have so many pieces that I’ve designed and sewed over the past few months that I haven’t yet photographed and shared on Fizz and Fade because I’m always covered up in a coat. When the weather was warm on Saturday I took it as an opportunity to get some pictures of this white peplum top I made a month or so ago.

As I’ve shared countless times on this blog, I love ruffles and I love knotted ties. I combined both of these elements in this white top with a ruffle peplum and knotted sleeves. This is such as easy top as it can be thrown on with any pair of pants and requires no tucking-in. The slightly oversize shape through the bodice and the slimmer sleeves make for a comfortable and still flattering fit. I recently got some black gingham fabric and am thinking it would look super cute sewn into this top, perhaps with a lower v-neck in the front…stay tuned on that one!

I also wanted to mention these embroidered mules from Shein – I got them right before the holidays and have been wearing them a bunch. The pointy toe and velvet fabric lend a sophisticated tone to any look, whether dressed up or down. For only $26, they are such a steal and they’re comfortable too! If you’re looking for a statement pair of shoes without a hefty price tag a few I recommend are these pearl embellished,  these with the bees and these fringe mules.

I'm thinking of sharing some more about my designing and sewing process for the clothing I create, is that something you guys would be into? Let me know in the comments of anything in particular you would want to see!

On a totally unrelated note, I realized after taking these photos how dark my hair has become! I usually get balayage highlights every couple months but have gotten lazy lately and let my hair grow out for awhile. The day after we took these photos I brightened things up and am feeling much more like myself. Gotta love a good colorist!
