Mixing Plaid and Stripes

I’ve spoken about mixing prints multiple times on my blog and it’s a styling tactic I love pulling out. There’s so much visual interest that comes with print mixing it just makes an outfit that much more complete…in my opinion. The key is making sure the prints are in the same color family and/or work together on size and scale. To be more specific, you don’t want two large prints that will be competing against one another and consume the wearer. You want to wear the look not have the look wear you.

I bought this Shein coat a month or so ago and love the longer length. I would have thought that being on the petite-side this mid-calf wouldn’t work on me but I actually think it has a lengthening effect, making me look leaner and taller. I did have to shorten the sleeves and the overall length but this can be easily done by a tailor.

These mom jeans have served me well, having worn them here, here and here. I’m so into the high-waist jean right now I have been eyeing the Levi’s wedgie jeans for awhile. I need to just pull the trigger and get them. Anyone have a pair? I’ve heard great things.

If you're still in the market for a black fedora like this one be sure you check out my recent post all about shopping for hats. I've also pulled together a bunch of similar black options included below!
