Desert Super Bloom
This past Saturday we made the drive out to the desert to view the Super Bloom. This winter we have received an abnormal amount of rainfall (exactly what I was hoping for when I moved to Southern California) which has resulted in the deserts blooming with greenery and flowers. On our way we stopped in Julian for some fresh apple pie and tested out the hard ciders at Julian Hard Cider. Afterwards we made our way to Anza-Borrego desert to see the blooms.
The landscape was pretty crazy with rolling desert, cracked earth and tons of wildflowers. We also got to see a handful of butterflies which are currently in their migration period (see last photo of this post).
Since desert temperatures fluctuate from hot to cold pretty quickly when the sun goes down I covered my bases in breathable linen. I had been wanting a plaid blanket jacket for some time and had my eye out every time I was at Goodwill or Salvation Army to scoop something up. Last week my patience was rewarded with this pink and cream plaid blanket, a steal for only $2.99! I used the fringed ends for the bottom of the coat and kept it short in length. I love it came out and have already worn it a handful of times.
To circle back on the linen top - linen is one of my favorite fabrics at the moment and I have a bunch of new linen tops that will be coming to my shop on Magillclothing.com at the end of this month, including the one I am wearing here. I will be sure to post more once they are available.
