This fall the stylish jean silhouette has shifted from skinny to straight and I was anxious to try it out. Seeing as this look is pretty trendy I wanted to try it out cheaply rather than a full-fledged investment. I headed on over to my local H&M and found these bad boys for $40. My new test on whether something is really stylish is if Jeff thinks it's crazy. After trying these on, he confirmed they fit the bill.
A few tips for making this silhouette work for you:
Get the length right. The ankle is one of the most flattering parts of the female body (at least in my opinion), so make sure your hem is above this. For my pair I just chopped them off to be the right length, no hemming necessary.
The waist should be as fitted as possible. Since the leg is wide, you want to really show off a tiny waist with a fitted top portion. If needed, take them to a tailor to get a perfect fit. And make sure you tuck in your shirt to show it off!
- Pair them with something cool. This style definitely has a retro flavor, to keep them from actually looking like mom jeans from the 80s, pair yours with other pieces that feel current for a cool mix of decades.
I got this sweater years ago and could never quite figure out what to wear it with. I love the bright mustard color but paired with black jeans looked bad, white jeans looked weird and certain denim washes just looked crazy. But now with my new "mom jeans" I've finally found a way to wear it!
