Move over Millennial Pink, there’s a new trendy color in town and it just might be a little more flattering. Lilac and lavender are poised to be the next “it” feminine color to incorporate into your wardrobe this spring. While pink can be a hard color to wear on certain skin tones, light purple is actually fairly flattering to most due to it’s cool yet subdued undertones. While the more daring (like Aimee from Song of Style) may be up for a full-lilac look, the rest of us may opt to test out the trend in a more restrained manner.
The beauty of this color (beyond you know, the actual beauty of the color) is that it works with so many other shades and hues. Lavender and camel is a great way to transition into springtime without sacrificing the warmth of your winter coat. Cream and grey also pair expertly with the color as well. I suggest staying away from purple and black as the combination is a little jarring and severe.
If you feel ambitious and want to go beyond the basics of just a lilac top, the key to avoid looking like a fashion victim is balance. If wearing all lilac, vary the textures to add dimension. If going for multiple colors, make sure they are in similar vibrancies. Lastly, be prepared to get noticed - this is not a color for the meek! But hey, it's spring so get wild with some new colors, why not right?
