This spring has felt strangely long and quick at the same time, anyone else feeling that way? On the one hand it seems as if we are still at the tail end of winter while on the other hand Memorial Day is next weekend. The seasons this year on the East Coast have been so out of whack, it's hard to remember what month is what. Today's post is just an overview of a few things that have been occupying my time and thoughts recently. We are now only a month away from our Wedding Day (!!!) so we are certainly feeling the crunch of things to get done. It seems the to-do list never gets shorter, only longer. While the next month will be jam-packed I'm so excited and knowing that there is an end to all this planning madness helps with the stress!
TOP LEFT: When I went for my first hair try for the wedding I tested out a few styles I had in mind. While my hair isn't super short it is super fine, which means beautiful voluminous wedding hair was out of the cards unless I got some added support. At the recommendation of my hair stylist I bought some extensions for my wedding day. I practiced putting them in a few nights ago as you can see in the upper left photo. I'm definitely not yet an expert at putting them in, but I'm trying to learn. It's nice to have the option of longer locks when I'm in the mood and I can see myself pulling these out from time to time after the wedding. If you have shorter hair, I recommend trying them out to get a new look!
TOP RIGHT/BOTTOM LEFT: Flowers for sale are starting to pop up and yesterday in Union Square my favorite peony (peoni) vendor was back in town. Someday I hope to have a garden of peonies (a New Yorker can dream, right?). At my bridal shower two weekends ago Jeff got me these roses and as they have aged they have only gotten more beautiful. Just looking at them brightens my day.
BOTTOM RIGHT: With the warm weather finally here, my desire to sew some new summery looks has been on overdrive. This weekend I was particularly productive creating two tops from vintage pieces. A yellow floral dress became this one-shoulder top with a cascading ruffle. Rather than invest in lots of new honeymoon pieces I have some designs in mind I plan to create in upcoming weeks to wear on the trip. I am also itching to get some pieces out there for sale. Working through the legal side of selling as a name that is not your own comes with it's own complications. Things are in the works though, so stay tuned!
A few other random things:
What started as me wanting to shed some extra pounds for our wedding has turned into me seeking to be healthier in general. Along with that I recently found out about Care/of vitamins and am trying them out. I will let you guys know what I think!
We started watching "Wild Wild Country" this weekend on Netflix and binged the first couple episodes super quickly. Very interesting if cults fascinate you like they do me.
I got these sandals from Zara last week and I'm obsessed with them. Gives that Hermes look for less and super easy to slip on and off. A great buy for this summer.
That's all! Happy Monday guys!
